SNF Nostos

SNF Nostos. Together again. This year, the most magical celebration of the summer will bring us together again—in person—for five days of music, dance, arts, activities, conversation, and dialogue in Athens, Greece. Energizing sounds, entrancing activities, thought-provoking discussions, and new experiences will fill the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens from August 25 to 29, capturing the mood and energy of summer and getting us back into the swing of a way of living we’ve very much missed.

At SNF Nostos 2021, leading artists, ingenious works, groundbreaking scientific discussions, and lively sports activities will once again bring us together and get us talking and thinking. Five days overflowing with thrilling events and activities await! As always, admission is free for all.

A set of installations that bring humanity and technology closer to one another round out the SNF Nostos artistic program, exposing us to trends at the forefront of the visual arts through works that provoke thought and evoke awe, admiration, and intense emotion.

Humanae will be part of the festival with an installation in the main promenade of SNF building. The exhibition is open everyday from 10h to 00h.

Education

On the occasion of the photographic exhibition Humanae, a number of workshops were held, which were designed and implemented by the artist Christina Tsinisizeli, inspired by the Humanae project. The workshops involved schools and families from the community and led the pupils to reflect on what skin colour means and to analyse their uniqueness, commenting on the diversity of people, without using labels or prejudices.

About Humanae

Humanae is a photographic work in progress by artist Angélica Dass. Currently composed of almost 4,000 portraits from volunteers all around the globe, Humanæ pursues to document humanity’s true colors and bring up a critical reflection on the white, red, black and yellow false labels associated with race. The project does not select participants and there is no date set for its completion.  It is a journey of open-ended possibilities that enriches the way we see ourselves, beyond faces and colors. Nowadays, the artist has been doing portraits in 36 different cities and 20 different countries.
